‘Stop Destroying Videogames’ initiative collects over 1.4 million signatures

 

The ‘Stop Destroying Videogames’ initiative closed collection on 31 July after gathering over 1.4 million signatures. On 11 August, organisers submitted the signatures for verification by national authorities. Provided the verification process is completed successfully, the organisers can submit the initiative to the Commission for examination.

Key developments on ‘Fur Free Europe’ in 2025

 

As announced in the Commission’s reply, the EU is actively assessing possible actions. Work is ongoing:

  • 4 July – 1 August: Call for evidence launched to collect views on the impacts of fur farming (see public contributions)
  • 17 July: American mink was added to the Invasive Alien Species Regulation, effective August 2027
  • 30 July: The European Food and Safety Authority (EFSA) published its scientific opinion on welfare of animals kept for fur production
